Free Pattern: Acton Socks

Acton Socks are simple socks with a slightly tailored finish. Easy enough for a beginner, the stockinette sock body is framed two purl columns. This pattern works well with solid, variegated, and even striping yarns, and looks just a touch more dressed up than plain sock.

These socks are worked from the top-down. The pattern is written with DPNs in mind, although knitters who prefer to use circulars or magic-loop should be able to follow it easily as well.
